As I’m sure all of you know, this campus was once home to Yenching University which was founded by American missionaries. Many of its wonderful buildings were designed by an American architect. Thousands of Americans students and professors have come here to study and teach. We feel a special kinship with you.

I am, however, grateful that this day is different in one important respect from another important occasion 79 years ago. In June of 1919, the first president of Yenching University, John Leighton Stuart, was set to deliver the very first commencement address on these very grounds. At the appointed hour, he appeared, but no students appeared. They were all out leading the May 4th Movement for China’s political and cultural renewal. When I read this, I hoped that when I walked into the auditorium today, someone would be sitting here. And I thank you for being here, very much.

Over the last 100 years, this university has grown to more than 20,000 students. Your graduates are spread throughout China and around the world. You have built the largest university library in all of Asia. Last year, 20 percent of your graduates went abroad to study, including half of your math and science majors. Just three decades ago, China was virtually shut off from the world. My friend, whenever in trouble, please remember, “Failure is the mother of success.”

Twists and turns in life are unavoidable and are not always bad. We should have a more optimistic view on life and try to make the most of it and draw lessons from the bumps and turns along the way.

If there is any single factor that makes for success in living, it is the ability to profit by defeat. Every success I know has been achieved because the person was able to analyze defeat and actually profit by it in his next undertaking. Confuse defeat with failure, and you are doomed indeed to failure. For it isn t defeat that makes you fail: it is your own refusal to see in defeat the guide and encouragement to success. Defeats are nothing to be ashamed of. They are routine incidents in the life of every man who achieves success. But defeat is a dead loss unless you do face it without humiliation, analyze it and learn why you failed.

Defeat, in other words, can help to cure its own cause. Not only does defeat prepare us for success, but nothing can arouse within us such a compelling desire to succeed. If you let a baby grasp a rod and try to pull it away, he will cling more and more tightly until his whole weight is suspended. It is this same reaction which should give you new and greater strength every time you are defeated. If you exploit the power which defeat gives, you can accomplish with it far more than you are capable of.

What is friendship? It is to relate with somebody without need for money or objective. It is to need emotion and over wealth is friendship，no matter what their background，age or personality.

Friendship can be pure. We hear，nowdays, however, how one can be cheated by friends. Many people get along with someone because they have a lot of money. It is doultful that is real friendship.

Having friends, one can be find happiness. If you are in trouble your friends will help you through or at least comfort you. When you are happy，they share it with you. They are also there for you to chat with at any time.

It is a wonderful feeling, as the proverb says to love each other is easy but to make frieds is hard ，So, it is crutial that we should get along with our friends. In my opinon，it is a shame to deceive your friends 。 The world would be more beautiful if it was full of filled with friendship

Good morning everybody, I’m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. We all know that Bingxin has a famous saying “we always admire the beauty of flowers but its sprout was watered by tears of struggle and rained by blood of sacrifice”. So for the majority, behind their success, are filled of sweat and tears. Eagle flying in the vast firmament, must be experienced the pain of countless times fall under the cliff, then hammered out a pair of volley wings.

A shinning of pearls, inevitably suffered countless body friction and numerous waves’ shock. In this view, a real successful people, and he must experienced numerous times to stand up again and agin after failed, because without sweat and tears on the life road,no one can casually get the beautiful flowers. Alfter a heavy fall Shi Tiesheng lost his legs, it must be a heavy blow for anyone. But he didn t lose faith in life, but use his brain and hands to show the infinite love of life;

Beethoven was blind and deaf, but he still had written the Hero Destiny nd so on a large number of music works, in his unfortunately life, he doggedly gripped the fate of the throat. They all had a fall, but they are strong enough to stand up, fight against fate and misfortune, finally they succeed. So for each of us, wrestling is not terrible, lose confidence and courage in life is the most terribe thing. In my opionion, the sweat and tears during the life’ journey are very important for us, they hone our will, and enrich our experience. As the saying goes, how can you see the rainbow without a rainy day, while you don t work hard and not struggle, how can you gain the successful flowers. All in all, the sweat and tears on the struggling road is inevitable, don’t look for shortcuts anymore, steadfast walk every step, we will succeed in the end. So belief yourself, nothing is impossile, just do it.

Technology is power, which is not proportionally distributed among creature. Human beings and other species belong to distinctively varied categories since men grasp the strength of technology. The people with great power, driven by their greedy instinct, can easily build their prosperity upon others species or other human-beings suffering and torment. With high-technology, people hunt and kill cetaceans in extremely high efficiency for extra food. Developed countries build polluting factories in Third World countries and earn the profits thousand miles away. They invade small countries for hypocritical reasons just to exploit its natural resources. Science and technology have turned this world into a dog-eat-dog wild jungle. What s worse, we barely feel guilty about the conducted evils because what we have to do is to push buttons and machines are our accomplices.

However, it is humanism that stops us from becoming complete animals. Humanism made us realize the significance of living in a harmonious world and turn our spotlight on building eco-friendly industry. In the past years, we stopped killing animals for nutrition we don t need. We passed laws and regulations to protect the least-advantaged people. Because of humanism, we started to consider human beings and nature as a whole and care more than just ourselves. We filled ourselves with reason, love and compassion. Humanism keeps reminding us the consequence of abusing the immense power of technology and the great responsibility we undertake.

As human, we are deeply conscious of our common humanity. There is no way we can walk away without being tortured by our conscience after we did so many damages on nature or other forms of life. Therefore, we modify our behavior to what we think it s humane. In this way, we gradually achieve the ultimate harmony between human and nature.

In fact, humanism has done much more than just making our conscience clear. It actually saves us from destroying our planet. We all know that we can t upset the balance of nature without a price although sometimes people choose to neglect the consequences and give in to the desire of fortune. Silent Spring, a very famous book written by Rachel Carson, revealed the fact that DDT and such chemical products could be very lethal to creatures like birds, and therefore they caused irreversible damage to our eco-system. The manufacturers knew exactly about the side effects but they chose to conceal the fact for their own interests. Without the humanists like Rachel Carson, we will remain ignorant and eventualy face our own doom desperately.

The role of humanism is absolutely indispensable. It gives us a unique opportunity to be wise and act in ways that elevate us above the animal kingdom. It retains our humanness. It prevents the world from being destroyed because of our destructive instinct. So ladies and gentlemen, let passion fill your sails, but let humanism be your rudder.

I am an ordinary girl from a rural family .I am leexcellent than other childred in the citise , and not so talented. But I show my confidence in the stage.I don`t expect that I have much succe.I don`t require myselfhow good ! Believe that I try my best to do it by using my heart.

Although it would be a failure experience .I won`t regret it .I still believe strongly in trying my best to do it. Failure is nothing,because I know the failure is the mother of success.

Even if I fail .I can be pround of saying:”I `m confident,I `m happy.”

It’s common knowledge that China posses the largest population globally .This poses the challenge of both feeding and educating the masses .In today’s fiercely competitive society, the educating is more important than previously .This inevitably raises the student’s pressure.Parents have placed so high expectations on their children. Achieving high scores ,win competitions and be admitted into prestigious schools. The net result is students dedications vast amounts of time to this pursuit .Most students event don’t have time to relax themselves.Even some excellent students commit suicide as a result of failure in their test.

As the old adage goes,All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.This poses question in such a bleak and harsh environment, how does Jack learn to smile.A nation of youths solely focused on academic result ,in severely lacking in essential social and life skills.

Release this pressure ,and by so doing create well rounded young people who posses the ability to contribute towards China’s rise to the top.

On the other hand, my other son, Hunter, who heads the World Food Program USA, graduated from Yale Law School.Now, he thought it’s a great idea. But then again, law graduates always think all of their ideas are(一个师多少人？师，是一个中国汉字，指军事规模、建制单位，分为三类师。在中国古代，师曾是商、周军队的建制单位。一个师约10000-12000人。) great ideas.

By the way, I’ve had a lot of law graduates from Yale work for me. That s not too far from the truth. But anyway, look, the truth of the matter is that I have a lot of staff that are Yale graduates, several are with me today. They thought it was a great idea that I speak here.

As a matter of fact, my former national security advisor, Jake Sullivan, who is teaching here at Yale Law School, trained in international relations at Yale College, edited the Yale Daily News, and graduated from Harvard -- excuse me, Freudian slip -- Yale Law School. You’re lucky to have him. He’s a brilliant and decent and honorable man. And I miss him. And we miss him as my national security advisor.

But he’s not the only one. My deputy national security advisor, Jeff Prescott, started and ran the China Law Center at Yale Law School. My Middle East policy advisor and foreign policy speechwriter, Dan Benaim, who is with me, took Daily Themes -— got a B. Now you know why I go off script so much.

I enter tile university after years of hard study and preparation. But life in the university is not as satisfactory as what I had expected. I become lazy and don t want to study.I become silcent. I become puzzled. I don t know what I can do in the future. Then I become unhappy.

Four years in the university is only a short period when compared my whole lifetime. Now it has passed a half. In this year, many people ,such as my parents,my friends, ask me what I want to do and tell me to map out a plan for my life. I don t want to follow their suggestion, and I want to go my style. So I think carefully. I have been a young volunteerfor five years.It s very happy and significant.

Then I have a dream.I want to join the University Student Volunteers Go West Programe. I think I can be a teacher in the west.I want to try my best to help them and help me. I want to see the world cearly. Now I can t reach its demand and it s very diffcult,but I will work hard in the next two years. There is an old saying where there is a will,there is a way. I think my dream can come ture.Now in the university I mature,and in the university I prepare for the real world.

At last,I want to say to everybody Hlod fast to your dreams,no matter how big or small they are.The path to dreams may not be smooth and wide,even some sacrifices are needed.But hold on to the end,you can find there is no geater happiness than making your dream come ture.
