Nowadays, star-worshiping is popular among teenagers, especially many university students.

Why? When it comes to the symptoms of worshiping a star, the main factor I’d like to mention is imitation. With a blind love for their idols, teenagers firmly believe that their choices are the best. As a result, the stars’ clothes, hairstyles and hobbies, as well as their behaviors in public, are closely observed or followed, though, to some extent, they may be considered improper or even ridiculous.

In my opinion, having idols is not a bad thing. However, we should make it clear who are the real “heroes”. As far as I am concerned, the real heroes are those who are making the most contributions to our society, such as teachers, doctors and scientists. As students, we should learn from them. Only in this way can we become useful persons in the future.

Why I Chose to Attend College?

As my high school years were drawing to a close， I turned over and over again in my mind the question of whether I should go to college. At times I did have some doubts. After careful consideration， however， I finally decided it was worthwhile to attend college.

Firstly， because I was always hungry for knowledge and keen on learning. While in high school， I became more and more interested in such subjects as math， physics， and chemistry. I longed to explore much further into those areas.

Secondly， because I knew a college education would provide me with opportunities for all round development. I would play in musical groups， take part in sports， and join campus organizations. Involvement in various kinds of activities could help make me a well rounded person.

Now I＇m here at college and I seem to have more reasons to congratulate myself on my right decision.

Everyone has goals. Many people do not reach their goals for lack of planning. These three sets of goals should be developed: lifetime, intermediate and short term. Lifetime goals should be written out. These goals should be clear and reasonable. For instance, the goal to win a research prize is clear and measurable. Other lifetime goals might include publishing a certain number of influential books or articles, earning a departmental chairmanship at a major university, successfully competing for a grant from the National Science Foundation or securing a consultantship with a big corporation.

Intermediate goals relate to outcomes during the next few years. For the beginning doctoral student, intermediate goals may include completion of course work and preparation of a doctoral research proposal. Like lifetime goals, these are measurable and clearly stated.

Short-term goals involve outcomes expected during the next 12 months. These goals are more performance oriented, and they help with achievement of intermediate goals. Examples of short-term goals are earning an A in a course, learning how to program a computer or performing an experiment.

When you visit London, one of the first things you will see is Big Ben, the famous clock which can be heard all over the world on the B.B.C. If the Houses of Parliament had not been burned down in 1834, the great clock would never have been erected. Big Ben takes its name from Sir Benjamin Hall who was responsible for the making of the clock when the new Houses of Parliament were being built. Unfortunately, I won the last one, oh, my god, my face lost up, so sorry I felt. My winter vacation is great. During my vacation, I visited the zoo several times. Two weeks ago my parents took me to the city zoo again. It is well known that practice makes perfect. whatever is worth doing at all is wordl doing well. to do well is to try, try, and try again. that is how i understand practice makes perfect.

Take for eample the study of english. in the beginning, it seemed hard to me to pronounce each word correctly and to memorize the grammar rules, sentence structures, the whole tets. by reading the tets over and over, listening to the tape again and again, and writing and speaking more and more, i have overcome the difficulties and become more skillful in mastering the language. nothing is impossihle if you set your mind on it.

During the Days of Military Training

The day we were looking forward to came at last----a week s military training began.

During the training, each of us did his part in earnest. We

drilled more than six hours a day, though it was very hot at the time. In the blazing sun, we always tried to measure up to the high standards which were demanded . Sweat streamed down and we wouldn t wipe it off. Olny three days later our faces were tanned.We felt happy and proud of it .

Our platoon officer was a young PLA man, about twenty years old. He was very strict with us during the training and very kind to us afterwards. By talking with him, we came to know not only more information about army life, but also about military affairs. The military training gave us good discipline. It brought us great happiness, too. We ll never forget it.

one of the most important things to success is a firm resolution. a great man is always one who has a firm resolution and an infleible spirit. one will never succeed all his life without a firm will to get the final victory. as a rule , great tasks are accomplished by men of strong will. for eample, dr. sun yatsen, the founder of the republic of china, set the chinese people free from the manchurian rule through a long period of hard struggle. many of his attempts failed and many of his followers were killed, but he had an infleible spirit and stuck to his cause. finally, he made the revolution of 1911 a success. a student who has no resolution will never succeed in his studies. the same is true of men in all walks of life. we must have a firm resolution first, if we wish to succeed. we must always remember the old saying that where there is a will, there is a way.

The summer job is a tradition among students of American universities. Long before the end of the school year,students begin their search for jobs during vacation ( June, July, and August).

Students send letters to businesses, talk to employers about job opportunities durlng the summer, and ask friends and relarives to be on the lookout for jobs for them. By June the students have usuallysolved the problem and begin to make preparations for leaving their books to enter the business world.

Reasons for wanting a summer job are different from student to student. Some work to help pay their school expenses; others work to gain experience in their chosen professions; still others work just for the fun of it. Typist, construction worker, salesman, lifeguard, and waiter these are some of the more common jobs that students try to find during the summer months. But many young people find work that is a little more unusual.

nowadays, tuition and fees for college are much higher than ever before. how to finance your college education has become a matter of concern for many. you can deal with it in many ways. you can get all of the money from your parents. you can apply for a loan especially set up for college students. you can also acquire the money completely by yourself, doing a full-time job in summer and winter holiday. in addition, you can ask your parents for most of it and earn the rest in your spare time in college, by doing a part-time job.

in my opinion, i prefer the last way. having acquired most of the tuition and fees from my parents, i needn’t worry too much about the money and can concentrate on my study; on the other hand, a part-time job in my spare time makes my compus-life colorful. i can make a lot of friends, improve my abilities and learn lots of knowledge.

so, i choose this way to cover my tuition and fees.

my ideal job is a job which has the link with english, because my profession is english. i wish i would listen to,speak,read,and write english very well. we all know that english can be used in all walks of lifes. so i can not describe my ideal job correctly. maybe one day i will face to so many strange faces to speak english loudly, and they will praise me: oh, it is totally different !
